E-Group Rules & Etiquette
Thank you for joining our community. We hope you will benefit from it by soliciting advice from your peers, learning from their experiences, and participating in ongoing conversations. To ensure the best possible experience for all members, we have established rules and guidelines for participation that all members must adhere to when posting messages.
In order to preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate membership in this community for any reason.
Questions should be directed to our Member Services department via the “Contact Us” link on this site. Technical questions on association management issues should directed to our helpdesk.
The Rules
• The discussions and comments are meant to stimulate conversation—n ot to create contention by challenging or attacking others.
• Do not post commercial messages on a discussion list, resource library entry, or other area. If you think people may benefit from a product or service, contact them directly using the “Reply to Sender” option to the left of the message
• Use caution when discussing products or services because information posted on the lists and in the libraries is available for all to see, and comments are subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.•
• Remember that other participants have the right to reproduce postings to this site unless you specify otherwise.
• Post your message or documents to the single most appropriate list or library; Do not spam multiple lists or libraries with the same message.
• All messages must add to the body of knowledge as it relates to the list of library where it was posted. We reserve the right to reject messages for any reason.
Discussion Group Etiquette
• Use a signature tag on all messages, including your name, affiliation, title, and location.
• Concisely state your comment topic in the subject line so members can discern the subject of your posting and easily search the archives by subject.
• When responding to a posting: include only relevant portions of the original message, delete header information, and put your response before the original posting.
• Only send a message to the entire list when it contains information from which everyone can benefit.
• When sending messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" to individuals, use the “Reply to Sender” to the left of the message so as not to email the entire list.
• Do not send administrative messages, such as “remove me from the list.” Instead, use the web interface to change your settings or to remove yourself from a list. If you are changing e-mail addresses, you do not need to remove yourself from the list and rejoin; simply change your settings.
• Warn other list subscribers of lengthy messages either in the subject line or at the beginning of the message body with a line that says "Long Message."
